In 2002 I signed on for my first ever sea kayak camping trip, with guides from Maine Island Kayak Co out of Portland, Maine. I had little experience with sea kayaking but much with whitewater kayaking.
I flew up from Maryland a day early to explore Acadia National Park. Here is the view from atop Cadillac Mountain, with Katahdin Mt. in the distance.
Spectacular views could be had with short walks across the granite slabs of Cadillac Mtn. On this morning, the sea was shrouded in mist.

Once the mist burned off, the view of the water opened up. This is Bar Harbor.
There were lots of hiking trails, which could be confusing....
