UNEMPLOYED !!
Yes, Kate's job has been the victim of a "business decision". But in the eleventh hour, in a curious twist of fate, her employer continued her employment for one more week - on the condition that she not show up at work. Without going into the details that might make sense of this situation, let's just say that Kate can take a hint. She spent the past week not being at work...
Day One
Sugarloaf, Maine. Skiing on the first of May!! and it was cold. Snow squalls obliterated the mountain peak as I drove away.
Day Two:
Seakayaking from island to island on Muscongus Bay, Maine. Saw about 75 harbor seals and great hordes of eider ducks.
Day Three involved some laundry and grocery shopping. Then it was down to the South Shore of Massachusetts for:
Surf-kayaking. Okay, no surf here. Did you ever try to shoot a photo in surf? This was during a lull.
Next day was seakayaking at Plum Island. No photos. Beautiful place and great weather.
Today, a first-ever trip to Martha's Vineyard:
This is Gay Head which feels like the end of the world. There are clay cliffs of red and yellow and grey and white. There are nude sunbathers. There are miles of empty beach. Wonderful.
Here is the soon-to-be unemployed. Letting her hair grow, clad in sandals and shorts and t-shirt, forgetting what day of the week it is. How quickly degeneration sets in....

What to do next... Arboretum? Kayak-camping? Hiking in the White Mtns? Or how about a little whitewater? I need another week of not showing up at work....
