Bonne Bay with the Tablelands in the distance.

Panorama (scroll across) of cottages on the interface of dunes and sea on the north coast of Gros Morne.

Abandoned house on the shore.

The entrance to the fjord of Western Brook. These cliffs tower several thousand feet over the grasslands. This rock is 1.25 billion years old, the oldest rock on the island. We had hoped to hike back and do a boat tour of the fjord but there wasn't time.

Mark stands knee-deep in wildflowers, looking for good photo ops.

The coast just south of Bonne Bay.

Cottages at the end of a long stone road.

The mountain of Gros Morne in the distance, a massive solitary rock jutting into the sky. On top is an alpine world with rock ptarmigans and snowshoe hares and rare arctic plants. It takes a full day of strenuous hiking to climb up and back. Maybe on another trip...
